Lu Farmer’s Multidisciplinary Artwork
Lu Farmer explores diary and the commercialism of Gen-Z self-definition while testing the boundaries of art & fair use.
Through illustration, collage, and Film, Farmer creates experimental fanwork to reinterpert himself and the work he engages with every day

When does a work become my own? *
A drawing in a sketchbook, scanned into a computer. Colored layers blocked out on a digital file. A silkscreen coated in emulsion. Each layer printed, then burned into the screen. Wash out the screen. Let it dry. Hand-mixed color. A squeegee pressed across a fine mesh, printing with my two hands. Wash out the screen. Let it dry. Again, I print. In 2022, I reference an image of Alan Alda shot on film by Jackie Cooper in 1973. Owned by 20th Century Fox, now owned by Disney. Like everything else. Does my labor allow me ownership of this image?
